Why Train with us?
We are very proud of our highly successful SCITT that St Joseph’s College has developed alongside our partner schools. Our Secondary 11-16 programme and Primary Teaching programme offer the trainee a high degree of classroom experience, undertaken with the support of experienced mentors. Excellent support is provided to the trainee via our well-established, bespoke programme of professional and subject development sessions. These are delivered by both outstanding classroom practitioners and Specialist Leaders of Education. Our SCITT is a QTS-only route with no requirement to complete additional assignments. This allows all of the trainee’s focus to be on developing their classroom skills.
The programme is immersive and allows you to develop a full understanding of a teacher’s roles and responsibilities, thus ensuring you will be well-prepared to step into this rewarding career. Trainees receive excellent support from expert mentors in placement schools. We are proud of our trainees’ excellent outcomes and employment prospects.
In addition to the main placement, trainees also conduct a short placement in a partner school and all trainees have the opportunity to gain experience of teaching their subject at post-16 level.
Ofsted Report (2019): “Leaders provide a clear moral purpose for the SCITT. This is to provide local schools with high-quality teachers and so improve children’s life chances. They are successful in achieving this aim.”
