The St Joseph’s College uniform is a central part of our school’s culture and we encourage all pupils to take pride in their appearance and value the sense of identity that their uniform provides.
School uniform and sixth form code of dress
Our uniform is available for the following suppliers, Clive Mark, Smart, and National Schoolwear Centres
In order to comply with the DfE’s statutory guidance on the cost of school uniforms we will be making a number of changes to our key stage 3 and 4 school uniform from September 1st 2026.
This guidance states that;
- School uniform costs should be reasonable and represent best value for money
- Affordability should never be a barrier to attending a particular school or participating fully in school life
- Schools should keep branded items to a maximum of4 items including the school tie. Branded items are any article of clothing that is worn as part of the day-to-day uniform or PE kit that has a distinctive characteristic, such as a name or logo, that make it unique to a school or academy trust.
- Schools must consider the total cost of uniform over a child’s time at the school.
The most significant changes will occur to our PE kit which had previously contained a number of branded items. We have therefore removed these and provided non-branded alternatives that are widely available. We are confident that all of the non-branded items we have introduced are widely available from a range of online and high street retailers.
From 1st September we will expect any new purchases of school uniform and PE kit to comply with the new uniform lists. Any current uniform or PE kit may still be worn from 1st September – there is no need to change any item of a student’s kit or uniform if it remains in good condition and still fits. We will continue to use our current suppliers who we have worked in partnership with for a number of years – National Schoolwear Centres, Clive Mark and Smart Uniform. They will continue to sell our current uniform and PE kit (in some cases at discounted rates) until stocks run out.
